Abstract

The judiciary has wrestled with the challenge of authenticating electronic evidence since the advent of digitization, leading to a surge in problems within legal systems. Ensuring the authenticity, originality, and admissibility of digital evidence has become imperative. This research paper delves into the impact of emerging technologies, particularly blockchain, on digital evidence’s authenticity and verifiability. The study examines key attributes of blockchain technology, including its cryptographic security, transparency, and irrefutable nature. Additionally, the paper discusses the implications and challenges faced by Indian courts. The analysis also focuses on block blockchain’s role in guaranteeing the authenticity and originality of electronic evidence. Furthermore, the paper briefly scrutinizes several case studies and relevant examples, aiming to illuminate the advantages and disadvantages of adopting such technology within the Indian legal system.
